Better Homes Ottawa Loan Program continues through 2024
The City of Ottawa is eager to support Ottawa property owners in making their homes more affordable, resilient and comfortable in 2024. The Better Homes Ottawa Loan Program has had early success in doing so with over 150 completed projects since its launch in late 2021.
Through the Program, all Ottawa homeowners can get a low-interest loan equal to 10 per cent of the current value of their home (up to a maximum of $125,000) to cover the cost of home energy improvements and climate adaptation measures.
Measures eligible for financing through the program include:
Basement, attic and wall insulation
Window, door and roof replacements (roof replacements must incorporated added insulation)
Air and ground source heat pumps
Heat pump hot water systems
Solar photovoltaic systems and battery storage
Electric vehicle charging stations (level 2)
Necessary upgrades to electrical systems to accommodate measures listed above
Climate adaptation measures such as basement waterproofing, back-flow prevention, and permeable pavement
Adding rental units such as granny suites or basement apartments (*up to 30 per cent of the total loan amount)
And more!
You can combine the Better Homes Ottawa Loan Program with other available energy efficiency rebates and incentives such as the Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program, through which applicants can get up to $10,000 in rebates.
