🍁 Celebrate Canadian Creators
This month, we are celebrating Canadian Creators at the Ruth E Dickinson branch. Who is your favourite Canadian author, artist, musician, rapper, singer, poet, actor, director, chef, illustrator, etc.? When you visit us at the library throughout the month of July, stop by the windows on the second floor to see our Canadian flag. Write the name of your favourite Canadian Creator on red or white paper and we will fill our flag with your favourites! Last year's favourite was actor Ryan Reynolds. Who will get the most votes this year?
🌷 Into the Heart of the Matter: Grief and Bereavement Workshop
In this workshop, you will be guided through an interactive session by Compassionate Ottawa’s trained facilitators to increase your knowledge and comfort on the topic. You will also be provided with tools and techniques to have conversations with those around you experiencing grief to be able to better support them. Thursday July 13 at 5:30 pm at the Manotick branch (5499 South River Drive).

How Stella Learned to Talk by Christina Hunger
Christina is a speech language pathologist who noticed that her growing puppy exhibited many of the same communication cues as her human clients. She gave Stella some communication assistive speech buttons to see if Stella could learn to "talk" through expressing simple concepts such as "outside". Well, 80 buttons later Stella has a lot to say, and Christina is telling their story. The work of Stella and Christina started a global pet communication sensation, and you have likely seen the result in online videos. Be prepared to be amazed by all that Stella has to say.
