Forget passports and long flights—Ottawa Public Library's Teen Staycation is where the real adventure begins!

Pack your curiosity and join us for a summer like no other! Discover our free programs for teens ages 13 to 18 here. Whether you're a bookworm, an artist, a gamer, or an adventurer, there's something specially tailored just for you. Registration is open - sign up with your library card to reserve your spot! 

  • 👩‍💻 Digital Storytelling - 3 Day Series: July 18 to 20 from 1 pm to 3 pm on Zoom

    • A Digital Story is a powerful Media and Digital Literacy activity, created by weaving digital photographs, video, voice, text and music into a digital video project. This personal narrative documentary workshop provides an easily accessible opportunity to reflect on your own strengths, culture, responsibilities, and dreams for your future. Each participant will need: One iPad, laptop, Chromebook or desktop computer. 

  • 💄 Fantasy and Anime Makeup: Tuesday, August 1 at 1 pm on Zoom

    • This program talks about creating artistic, anime, and fantasy shapes. Learn popular drag techniques like glueing down your eyebrows and applying false eyelashes, mixed with fantasy techniques like painting your skin a colour and adding textures, freckles, and art.

  • 🌟 Observing the Night Sky: Thursday, August 10 at 2 pm on Zoom

    • People have been marveling at the night sky for millennia; it is a source of wonder for people of all ages and cultures. Through a series of fun challenges, teens will learn about the celestial objects and phenomena that can be observed with our own eyes or with the help of a telescope. Presented by the Canada Science and Technology Museum. 

  • ▶️ Introduction to Arduino:  Thursday, August 17 at 2:00 pm at the Ruth E Dickinson Branch

    • Join uOttawa Maker Mobile for this interactive workshop! You will get a chance to learn about microcontrollers by programming a virtual Arduino board and controlling its various inputs and outputs (lights).

Ottawa parents, the TD Summer Reading Club is in full swing! The Ottawa Public Library has a variety of programs planned to keep kids reading and learning while having fun all summer long! Don't miss this incredible opportunity to get your children enrolled in a fun literacy experience! Register your little ones today! Don't forget, you can attend programs at any library branch! 

  • Ottawa kids up to 12 years old can visit their local library branch to register and get their TD Summer Reading Club notebook. You can also go onto the TD Summer Reading Club website to get a virtual copy

Our Dickinson Reads Book Club for adults will be returning this September! They meet monthly to enjoy lively good-natured discussions of a wide variety of books selected by members.
