🌈 Capital Pride Comic Workshop
Comics creators Nicole Burton and Hugh Goldring of Ad Astra Comix will be offering a workshop on creating Pride-themed comics. If you’re interested in comic books but don’t know where to start, this workshop is for you!
Witness the magic of visual storytelling come to life! Participants will be encouraged to illustrate during the workshop, and work will be discussed in a supportive environment. This workshop is open to teens ages 13 to 17. All materials will be provided. All you need is an open mind and your creativity!

The Ottawa Public Library is seeking super-talented illustrators to design the cover for this year's edition of Pot-Pourri - an anthology of all the winning short stories, poems and comics from our Awesome Authors Youth Writing Contest. 🌟Observing the Night Sky: Thursday, August 10 at 2 pm on Zoom - People have been marveling at the night sky for millennia; it is a source of wonder for people of all ages and cultures. Through a series of fun challenges, teens will learn about the celestial objects and phenomena that can be observed with our own eyes or with the help of a telescope. Presented by the Canada Science and Technology Museum.
🤳 Self-Shooting Photography Techniques: Tuesday, August 15 at 1 pm on Zoom - If you have a DSLR, point-and-shoot, or even just a cell phone, you can take great photos of yourself and others. In this course, you’ll learn about how cameras work so that you can take great pictures, with a special focus on taking pictures of yourself, which is normally hard to do alone. We will talk about using tripods, remotes, and stuff around your house to make a studio environment in which to take photos.
▶️ Introduction to Arduino: Thursday August, 17 at 2:00 pm at the Ruth E Dickinson Branch - Join uOttawa Maker Mobile for this interactive workshop! You will get a chance to learn about microcontrollers by programming a virtual Arduino board and controlling its various inputs and outputs (lights).
