🎨 2023 Ruth E. Dickinson Branch Teen Art Contest 📸​

Calling all young artists ages 13 to 17: our annual Teen Art Contest is back this summer! Visit us at the branch to pick up an entry form and submit your work of art!​ Deadline for submissions is ​Wednesday, August 16 at 5:00pm. For full contest rules and criteria please see entry form. Join us on Saturday, August 19 from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm for a Vernissage where all the art pieces​ will be on display and prizes will be awarded!

👨‍🎨 Awesome Authors Seek Awesome Illustrators!

Calling all artists and illustrators! The Ottawa Public Library will be publishing Pot-Pourri this fall – an anthology of all the winning short stories, poems and comics from our Awesome Authors Youth Writing Contest.  We are looking for a talented young artist between the ages of 9 and 17 to design a cover for this year's edition of the book. We will be accepting submissions via email or in-person at your local branch until August 20, 2023.  For full contest details please click here

🌈 Expressive Body and the Social Body: Senior Movement Class with Lola Ryan 🌈

Participants will experience the joys of dance and athletic movement in a context that extends their abilities but also protects them from strain or over-use. Wednesday, August 23 at 11:00 am at the Manotick United Church (Manotick and Area Centre for Arts & Wellness) at 5567 Manotick Main Street. Can't come in person? No problem! This is a Hybrid program! You can participate virtually over Zoom as the class is happening live! Registration required: in-person | virtual

Join us for stories, songs and rhymes for babies and their parents or caregivers.  For babies 0-18 months.  Drop-in program. Thursdays at 2:30 pm until August 17. 

📖 FOPLA Mammoth Book Sale 

Attention Math and Science fans! FOPLA's next Mammoth Book Sale on Saturday, July 29 is going to feature a fantastic collection of Great Courses! These Courses will educate, entertain and illuminate some serious subjects - black holes, string theory,  the nature of the universe.....we have Math, Physics, Statistics, Biology, Earth Sciences, History, World Religions, and many more thanks to an extraordinary donation that we received.

Most of these Great Courses will be $20 or less. And of course, we've also got lots of fiction, non-fiction, teen and children's books on offer. Saturday, July 29 from 10 am to 2 pm at 100 Tallwood Drive. See you there!
