About the Snowsuit Fund

Underscoring the importance of snowsuits for winter play

Being outside in the winter is an important part of growing up in Ottawa. Making snow angels is a quintessential winter weather activity that underscores the importance of a warm snowsuit to survive and thrive during Ottawa winters underscores both the importance of outdoor play and our mission to ensure that every child regardless of economic circumstance is dressed warmly to play outside in winter.

Keeping Kids Warm is our Mission.

Our core mission is to ensure that Ottawa’s most vulnerable children can have warm snowsuits to play outside in winter – without their families having to sacrifice other priorities. Outdoor play even in winter is important for children’s mental health, physical wellbeing, learning and development.

Operating for over 40 years, The Snowsuit Fund purchases over 16,000 annually for Ottawa children 15 years and younger bringing dignity and hope to low-income families struggling with the necessities of life. As a grassroots organization, the Snowsuit Fund receives no government funding and relies on the generosity of caring groups and individuals to keep its doors open.
